Re-Introduction

Almost Spring again! It's been nearly a whole year since I last posted. A lot has happened in that year. We have made friends in our new town, found homeschool co ops and a great gymnastics gym, my daughter enjoys competitive cheer, and my oldest has become quite the outdoorsman (when he isn't gaming on his new gamer computer that Santa left!)

Since January of 2012 I had been struggling with my health. I was constantly cold and tired. I hurt al over, had terrible stomach problems, and fainting spells. I was in and out of the hospital and saw practically every kind of specialist known to man. Finally, a fabulous functional MD diagnosed me with thyroid and adrenal problems. Basically my thyroid puts out plenty of T4, but my body had quit converting it to that very necessary T3. My cortisol was also too high in the afternoon and evenings which meant that when it climbed in the morning for that "little jolt that gets you going" I was being hit with far too much of it. With the help of my good doctor, thyroid medication, cortisol reducing supplements, and lots of rest I am feeling much better. My recovery is a work in progress, and I still have bad days, but nothing like the nightmare I lived for over 2 years.

This winter has been so much better than last years. Not only do I feel better, but we haven't had the gray days and polar vortex hovering over us for months on end. I'm still looking forward to my favorite (warm) time of the year, though! Spring and Summer! Woo Hoo! Can't wait to break out the shorts, swimsuits, flip flops, and see my green grass and happy flowers!
